Larry's Last Lines. Yeah Right.

As we have just moved along into a new administration here in our Alumni Association, I would like to take the chance to briefly share my thoughts with all of you, my brother Hawks. We have in the last 18 months written an amazing chapter in the history of our Alma Mater and its relationship with our Alumni Association.

We, by our collective determination and resolve, not only saved the school but set it on a new and exciting path. Many of you who have come to join us in the daily, weekly, and monthly execution of the plan, hatched on that incredible evening way, way back on April 23, 2008, in the Cafeteria, know full well the measure and value of our De La Salle spirit. This belief in ourselves, our Hawk family, our Brothers, and our lay teachers is what enabled us to succeed.

Our newly elected President Steven Cappiello is determined to lead us in a direction that will bring to our Alma Mater and our Alumni Association more glorious years of success. The rock that we all stand on is still with us also-- Brother Patrick King F.S.C. His continued position as the "Faculty Adviser" is one of the greatest assets we have in the bank. The interest we have collected because of Brother Pat's investing his life to Hudson Catholic has provided us, in his many years of dedicated service and devotion to our cause, an immeasurable return.

I have been so lucky, we have been so lucky, to have known this dedicated and soft-spoken man of honor through so many, many years. His influence on our new administration will be of value to their stewardship of our association.

The torch is passed to Steven; so I say to you all: Join him, Brian, Joe, Brother Pat, and Fr. Warren in their mission to care and protect the school and our alumni association.

Adios,
Larry Basinski, ’70
