In the Halls and On the Field

Many great things are happening in the halls and on the fields this Spring.

On Thursday, April 23, 2009, Father Hall presided over the Junior Ring Mass and National Honor Society induction. Jonathan Guarino was named NJSIAA scholar-athlete. One student from each high school is given this honor. Congratulations, Jonathan!

Freshmen De La Salle Scholars recently participated in the 2009 National Latin Exam. The exam tested the students’ knowledge of the Latin language and Roman culture. All students from Hudson Catholic received an award. Cum Laude awards were earned by Jason Gonzalez, Joseph Talafou, and Stephen Chan. Magna Cum Laude honors were earned by Ryan Gomez and Robert Metro. Maxima Cum Laude honors were earned by Pankaj Kapoor and Giovanni Manzo. Summa Cum Laude honors were earned by Robert Khouzam, Brian Mendoza, Christian Pascual, and Jorge Sion. Congratulations to our Freshmen Scholars. You make us proud.

The Varsity Baseball team will be playing in the 1st Round of the County Playoffs on Wednesday, May 20, 2009. Time and location to be announced. Under the direction of Drama Society head Robert Astudillo, '06, several students participated in a student film for a Theater and Film class at NJCU. The following students participated in a Three Stooges re-enactment for Robert's Film Class at NJCU: John Barzynski; Daniel Busnelli; Rafael DeSoto; John Garcia; Giovanni Manzo; Daniel Marangues; Brian Mendoza; Jonathan Rueda. Nicely done, guys. It is great to see current Hawks helping out an alumnus. Can't wait to see your names in lights.

Answer: This Brother, who has spent 32 years at Hudson Catholic, and is a train enthusiast, opera buff, history teacher, guidance counselor, mentor, and friend to thousands of Hudson graduates and their families, was honored as a 2009 inductee into the Hudson Catholic Hall of Fame.
